DESCRIPTION
Ajuga reptans 'Mahogany ' is a perfect choice for a shady garden. Purple flower spikes will arise in early summer and look gorgeous when planted in mass. The bronze and burgundy foliage makes beautiful groundcover in a shady bed or woodland garden. This plant can tolerate a lot of abuse, including foot traffic. For consistently gorgeous contrast, try planting around white or cream stepping stones or edge a gravel path. Ajuga 'Mahogany' has a strong root system and is often used on stream banks and other places where erosion control is of concern. It is a slow spreading, very hardy perennial that will thrive nearly anywhere and will attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
