DESCRIPTION
Lemon Balm 'Melissa officinalis' is from the mint family, square stems and opposite leaves, delicious fresh or dried for tea with so many healing benefits! Lemon balm is a herbaceous perennial and will spread if you let it go to seed. Plant in an area you'd want to see its pretty mint-like foliage take over and provide a beautiful scent, and later in summer, flowers for pollinators. Or you can prune back a couple times a season before it goes to flower/seed and dry in bunches.
Lemon Balm will die back to the ground in winter but return in spring.
Lemon Balm is one of my favorite herbs with its antiviral properties and delicious flavor. Lemon Balm is calming and one of the safest herbs for children. Mix with chamomile and honey for a relaxing tea before bedtime to help reduce stress and promote healthy digestion.
