DESCRIPTION
Duchesse de Nemours is a beloved heirloom peony, cherished for its classic form, creamy white blooms, and delicate fragrance. This mid-season variety produces large, fully double flowers with layered petals—soft ivory on the outside and a hint of buttery yellow at the center. The elegant blooms resemble garden roses and carry a light, sweet scent that makes them ideal for cut flower arrangements.
Plants reach 34 to 36 inches tall with an upright, well-branched habit and lush green foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. The strong stems support the substantial blooms well, though light staking may be beneficial in heavy rains or rich soils. Introduced in the 1800s, Duchesse de Nemours has remained a garden favorite for generations due to its reliable performance and timeless beauty.

FALL PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Dig a hole about 12" wide and 12" deep.
2. Create a mound of soil in the center of the hole.
3. Position the root so that the eyes (buds) face upward and are 1–2 inches below the soil surface (no deeper!).
4. Backfill gently, firming soil around the root.
5. Water thoroughly.
